Sometimes when people get me talking about the stuff I like, I don't shut up. I don't want to shut up. I want to make a bunch of recommendation. It would be easier to send them to a website with all my favorite stuff.
I'm not particularly happy about how I tend to spend my free time. I often turn to the same few games that I've been playing for decades and it doesn't feel like I am growing as a person (in the direction I want to grow) when I play those games. Maybe if I spend time on this website, I'll feel better about myself at the end of it.
I became a web developer because I worked on a game running in the browser. Gradually my responsibilities extended beyond the game interactions into the front-end UI, backend database application, and architecture that everything is running on. I learned a lot, but there are some obvious gaps in my knowledge like -- how should I manage simple, static websites? What kind of build tools are out there? What if I want a simple server-side database application?
I take a lot of personal notes that never see the light of day. Occasionally, I actually discover something that could be useful to other people, but I rarely ever post anything on the internet. Maybe if I have a default place to publish, I will be led to write more useful things or publish in places people might actually find some day...
